“Advice”

female_symbolMy buddy told me that everyone would be in my business about the baby. Fortunately I can say that everyone that visits this site does not fit into that aforementioned everyone category, but I get what he meant, and we’re just a few weeks into this. I’m becoming a hermit after the baby is born. I’m about sick of people asking why we would not want to find out what sex the baby is. Call me old fashioned (along with 99.999% of the people who have ever walked the face of the earth), but it won’t kill us to not know. The baby will not care if its room is a neutral color. The baby doesn’t even know its own sex for quite a long time, and even then developes its views on its own sex based on what it learns from other people.

The reason for bringing this up is that I read that only 62% of people want to find out the sex, but in my experience 100% of people will ask what the sex of your baby is. It seems like that 62% of folks is about 95% of the people that I know, because they all give me a lecture about showers, colors, Kathy will change and do this or that, blah, blah, blah. If you didn’t know, my wife isn’t from here and does not have traditional/modern American values. I’m thinking you all knew that though. :)

Time to really get up onto my toes on my soapbox… American traditions… a lot of them are great, a lot of them go without question. I like to question why I do something. Kathy and I stopped celebrating a lot of “holidays” because of this reason. I still like Christmas, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July… you know, the ones that are actually celebrating something. We do not exchange gifts on Christmas, we used to spend some quiet time together on Easter, and of course the American specific holidays concerning independence mean a lot to me, and I think that Kathy enjoys them as well.

The moral: Why do boys have to have blue and girls pink? (please note that I’m simplyfying the whole scenario) I don’t know and I don’t think anyone can answer that question.

Remember what I told you earlier that people used to never know what their babies were going to be and everything just turned out fine. Look at you!!!!!
