18 Week Ultrasound
We just got back from the doc and Kathy had her 18 week ultrasound. We learned some things. The baby IS DUE on the 25th of November. That’s two days before Thanksgiving.
The baby is about 5.5 inches long and around 7 ounces. It has eyes, arms, feet, all the heart chambers, and apparently some sex defining anatomy… which we did not see. The tech saw the sex, but turned off the screen for us. She said that the only reason that she sees it is because she has to measure the femur. It is kind of obvious, either there is a penis or 2 lines (not the absence of a penis as I had heard).
Here is the amusing part… Kathy never has caffeine anymore. She had to REALLY go when we stopped for lunch before the appointment so she did. She thought that she would have to pee into the cup when she got to the doc (but ended up not having to) and so she had a coke for lunch so that she would have to go by the time that we made it to the doc’s office. Apparently the absence of caffeine leads to the baby being very active if you get it wired right before the ultrasound. The baby was doing the “Crocodile death roll” as my buddy Mike puts it. His daughter does that on the changing table. For those of you having a hard time picturing what I’m saying, think of the National Geographic channel when you see a Croc with prey in its mouth and it is trying to kill it. The baby was doing that in the womb. Arms, legs, knees, all flying everywhere. It was awesome, but the tech had some difficulty getting the baby to sit still toward the end. We really had a good time.
Enjoy the pics! (Yes, I realize that some look like an alien)
